Justin Ebert - Head Coach/Throws

Coach Ebert is going into his fifth season as the Head Track & Field Coach at Salina South and his sixth year coaching at South. Prior to taking over as the head coach, Coach Ebert was in charge of the hurdlers for the 2010-2013 seasons. In addition to serving as a track coach, he also coaches on the Salina South Football and Boys Basketball teams.

As is a 2003 graduate of Salina South, he competed in Track, Football, and Basketball as an athlete. In his four years at South, he was able to compete in all three sports State Tournaments and was a part of the 2001 and 2002 Regional and 2002 League Championship Track teams.

Jody Nutter - Head Assistant Coach/Throws

Jody Nutter has been with Salina South Track and Field as a Throwers coach since the spring of 2005. Jody competed at the college level at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and was a 4 time NAIA Track and Field Championship qualifier for the Swedes. While attending Bethany she competed in the Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and Hammer Throw/Indoor Weight Throw.

Jody's love of Track and Field began in high school where she began her career. She was a 3 time Kansas State Track and Field qualifier placing 3rd in the Javelin during her junior year. During her senior year she qualified in all three throwing events winning a State Championship in the 3A Discus.

Jody is in her 7th year of teaching at Salina South and lives in Salina with her family. She enjoys watching her two children play soccer, basketball, tennis and swim in the summer months.

Travis Peterson - Horizontal Jumps

Coach Peterson is entering his tenth season as an assistant track coach. Coach Peterson is responsible for Long Jump and Triple Jump. In addition to coaching track, Coach Peterson is the head Cross Country coach, and is also an assistant basketball coach. Coach Peterson is a 2000 graduate of Salina South High School.

Coach Peterson is in his 13th year teaching overall and sixth year in his current position at Opportunity Now. In addition to teaching and coaching, Coach Peterson enjoys spending time with his wife Jayme and his two boys Tanner and Tucker.

Sam Sellers - Sprints/Hurdles

Coach Sellers is entering his seventh season as an assistant track coach at Salina South working with the sprinters. Under Sellers' watchful eye the Cougar sprinters have taken the medal stand ten times in the past seven years at the state meet including a coaching the 2012 Boy's 4x1 State Champions.

Sellers, a 1999 graduate of Salina South, has coached football at South for the past 17 years including the past seven as head coach. His wife Lindsey is a Counselor at South High.

Tim Bishop - Middle Distance

Following an exceptional collegiate track and field career,Tim Bishop has been coaching at the high school and college-level for over a decade. After graduating from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota in 2003, Bishop was named an assistant cross country/track and field coach at his alma mater. Upon beginning his teaching career in the fall of 2005, he joined the Spearfish High School track and field staff. During that time he worked with sprinters,middle distance runners, distance runners and jumpers. As a coach, he has been privileged to watch many of his student athletes achieve success at the South Dakota State Track and Field Championships.

Bishop, who joined Salina South in 2012, was a 16-time All-American at Butler County Community College (now Butler Community College),and Black Hills State University, and a seven-time conference champion. He received his Master's degree from South Dakota State University in 2012. He currently holds 13 school records at BCC and BHSU. Bishop resides in his hometown of Lindsborg with his wife Wesleigh, son Kaden, and two dogs, Miley and Chewy.

JD Garber - Pole Vault

Coach Garber is entering his fourth year as an assistant coach for the Cougars. Before this year, Garber has been an assistant track coach at Salina Central for 10 years starting as a throwing coach, then moving to sprints and focusing most of his time on the pole vault.

As a coach at Central, Garber helped current Wichita State pole vaulter, Taylor Swanson win the 2012 State Championship and crush the school record by over 3 feet. Since then, Garber has helped qualify multiple athletes to the KSHSAA state track meet and has had multiple state placers in the pole vault the past 6 years.

Coach Garber is looking forward to the opportunity to focus solely on the pole vault this year and hopes to take the Cougar pole vaulters to new heights and help them reach their goals.

When he's not coaching, Coach Garber, a Sabetha High School graduate and Kansas State Alum, enjoys spending time with his wife Lindsay and his daughters Marcella and Gabby.

Chris Brochtrup - High Jump

Chris Brochtrup is entering his fourth year as an assistant Track and Field coach for the Salina South. In the summer before the 2014-2015 school years, Brochtrup was hired on as an assistant offensive line football coach for the Cougars. This is Brochtrup's sixth year in his coaching profession.

Brochtrup attended Kansas Wesleyan University from 2009 through 2014. Within those years, Brochtrup received his undergraduate degree as well as his Master's of Business Administration with a Sports Management emphasis. While accomplishing his academic goals, Brochtrup also played football for the Coyotes. Brochtrup played for his first 3 years as a linebacker, and student coached the running backs his senior year.

The Cougar Nation then welcomed Brochtrup in to its athletic program. He was an assistant football coach for the recently added 7th grade football program at South Middle in the 2012-2013 school years. Brochtrup coached the linebackers, defensively, and the wide receivers, offensively.

Chris also works at Salina South as a Special Education Educator. This is Brochtrup's second year working with the students with needs at the high school.

"I look forward to coaching all the student-athletes this Track and Field season. I am thankful for this opportunity and I wish to provide the most potential I can give to each of the athletes this season.'

Seth White - Throws

Coach White is in his second year of teaching and coaching at the high school level. As a 2011 graduate from Pike Valley High School, Seth was a four sport athlete in football, basketball, track, and golf. White was also a two time state track qualifier with a 6th place finish in 2010.

Coach White recently graduated from Bethany college where he competed for the track team in Javelin and the weight throw. Seth was also a student track coach in his last year at Bethany college.
