Welcome to Salina South High School Athletics

I would like to welcome everybody to Salina South High Athletics and the 2020-21 school year.  We are very excited to begin the school year and for our athletic teams to begin competing. We know that this year could present some challenges with COVID-19 but we are hopeful that we will be able to compete this year. Sports are an excellent way to grow as an individual and to learn how to be part of a team. I know athletics played a major role in helping prepare me for many of the challenges that life brings. Through sports many lessons can be learned and it is our goal for each student at Salina South High School to have a positive experience and develop necessary life skills.

We expect our student athletes to compete in a safe, honorable and successful mindset.  We want all of our athletes to be safe.  That includes teaching safe fundamentals by our coaches and competing at a high level while being safe on and off the athletic venue.  We want our student athletes to be students first and to make choices that are right and honorable.  Our students need to know that they represent Salina South High School and we want to be proud of what we do and who we are.  In the end we want to be as successful as possible.  There are many ways in which we can define success and winning is just one of them.  If you do things right, work hard, have discipline and compete good things will happen to you and our teams.

We expect our coaches, teachers, administrators, students, athletes and parents to all exhibit good sportsmanship.  Cheer for our team and not against the other team.  In regards to sportsmanship the same mantra applies:  safe, honorable and successful.  Those guiding principles should be at the forefront when discussing and practicing sportsmanship.

We look forward to a great school year.  If there are athletic questions please contact Pam Henoch, athletic secretary,  at (785) 309-3713 or Pam.Henoch@usd305.com.  You can also contact me at the same number or at Ken.Stonebraker@usd305.com.  Let’s have a great year!

Go Cougars!
